TERM 3

I did this picture in 'Open Minded Portraits'. We had to read a book, choose a character from the book and open their mind. We answered some questions about our character in that booklet and the front cover was a picture of the character (above). I did a character from Ice Dream. Her name was Rosa.

I am reading a book called Netball Dreamz. It is about two girls called Nat and Sally and their quest to join the Grade 6 Netball team. But Nat comes from a Basketball family and Sally has a no sport rule. Through the 3 books the girls have stories and rules that help them play netball.

Fotobabble

I did a Fotobabble on Miss Fortune. When I did my Fotobabble I think I didn't go too fast or too slow, I think I went at a good speed.

I also did it in an airlock with a laptop and it didn't echo a lot, so I think mine was pretty good.

Quiz Reflection Questions

Explain the task

We had to pick a 2012 shortlisted book, read it and create 8 questions about the book. My group picked a book called The Dream of the Thylacine and we created 8 questions and made an online quiz. You can see the quiz by scanning the QR code (above) or clicking on the picture (above), but you have to have read the book.

What did you enjoy most about this task?

I enjoyed making the online quiz as we found lots of pictures of the Thylacine and I liked creating the questions as we created fun questions to answer.

What was your biggest challenge?

The hard part for me was creating some questions, as you had to find a question that made sense and had 4 answers where 1 question was definitely wrong, one was right and 2 were not right but were possible answers.

Which skill did you find the most useful?

I found some of my summarising skills helpful as you basically summarised the story into questions. I also knew how to make online quizzes.

List 2 ways this task could help you in your future learning?

1. I can use QR codes for my future work.
2. I can use my summarising skills in the future to help me in reading, writing and all of the other subjects.

TERM 4
Book Trailer Task
Your task is to create an eye-catching Book Trailer that will promote your book to other students.
Use images, video, animation, music and words to create your book trailer. Try to use copyright friendly sources. Your presentation should be between 30 seconds and 2 minutes.

GOAL : To recognise and interpret the main themes of a story by creating a short book trailer which promotes the book.

Reflection
What did you enjoy most about this task?
I enjoyed everything! But if I had to choose a favourite it would be finding all the pictures and music for our movie
and putting it all together.
What was your biggest challenge?
Finding the right music. It was a fun and hard challenge as we had to find music that fitted the mood and was
copyright free, but we did find some good free music that fitted the mood.
What skills did you learn during this task?I learnt how to use copyright free websites, because normally for a presentation I would find a picture and then
reference it so now I know how to find copyright free things.

Speaking and listening task:

We also did a speaking and listening task. We wrote a question on a piece of paper and then put it in a box. Then we pulled out a question from the boz that someone else had wrote. Next we got into groups and we had answer the question. One of our group members filled out a rubric on how we went and I found out I need to improve on my expression. I worked really hard on making my clarity good and my fluency good and it worked and it was a fun activity.
